McDonald’s CEO: Middle and lower-income consumers are ‘under a lot of pressure’

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said on Tuesday that while upper-income earners are feeling “quite confident” about the economy, middle and lower-income consumers are “a different story.”

“What we see is it’s really kind of a two-tier economy,” he said, noting that current conditions differ from past economic downturns because the wealthier consumer “isn’t feeling under a lot of pressure.”
